In Spain the educational system is organised as follows:
|Pre-school education||ages 0 – 6|
|Primary education||ages 6 – 12|
|Secondary education (obligatory) – E.S.O.||ages 12-16, if no year has to be repeated|
|Bachillerato (Spanish Baccalaureate) – optional||ages 17 – 18, if no year has to be repeated|
Usually children are assigned to the school nearest to their official address of residency or sometimes the one closest to where their parents work, etc. As long as there are free spaces left you are usually also allowed to choose a different school but this might not be the case if your children start school in the middle of the school year. Please bear in mind that you will not be allowed to enroll your children in school until you have bought or rented a property and are officially registered in Jávea.
There are also a few private British schools in Jávea. Their terms and conditions of admittance may be different.
Here is a list of public and private schools offering primary education in Jávea. Some of them even offer their website in English.
